How can I find out what processor I can upgrade my system to?

I have an AMD in my Dell Inspiron 531s slim desktop and it is always maxed out. I want to upgrade but how can I find out what my mobo will handle? Thanks,

I’m afraid you can’t. The BIOS that Dell uses is hard-wired for the CPU it has. Also, that’s 45W CPU, you won’t find one much more powerful that isn’t far more than that. Perry, since you seem to be in Jacksonville, I would recommend going to CompUSA or tigerdirect (same company), and asking about getting a custom build. That way you don’t have to worry whether or not Dell, Acer, HP, Lenovo, etc. want you to upgrade or not because of course they don’t. They want your money for a whole new PC. Get a new computer built and when it’s time to upgrade, the case will hold motherboards other than the one you have. Also, for the LOVE OF GOD don’t get another slimline. Those things are technological dead-ends because nothing fits in them.
